Mahindra tractors are world-renown for their power and rugged design, capable of working in the toughest terrains found on the planet. Besides power and versatility, farmers in BC are looking to save on fuel to reduce operating costs and increase efficiency. Mahindra tractors have taken fuel efficiency to the next level with a 30-million-dollar investment to redesign their Tier IV diesel engines.

Mahindra’s mCRD technology eliminates the needs for a diesel particulate filter (DPF) system. This means no excess heat or burn-off and much less complexity for the operator. Common DPF systems must use intense heat to burn off diesel particulates during regeneration, upwards of 1100 degrees Fahrenheit is required, which burns excess fuel. DPF filters need to be replaced which is an added cost for your machine. Not to mention the downtime required for the machine to “regenerate” the DFP system. DPF systems are common in many diesel engines, so how has Mahindra eliminated this system?

Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)

The Mahindra DOC treatment system does not require any system regeneration, filter replacement or cleaning. A DOC system is an aftertreatment component that is designed to convert carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water. Both CO2 and water are absorbed by plants and are essential to their growth, carbon monoxide is a harmful emission that contributes to the depletion of the ozone layer.

Common DPF systems will collect soot and ash which reduces performance and can damage your filtration system. Replacing this costly and inefficient systems with a simple solution has vastly increased performance and fuel efficiency.

Mahindra tractors also use a multiple fuel injection system for a cleaner exhaust. This results in more efficient fuel combustion and significantly reduces particulate matter emissions. This system is designed to maximize the energy stored in your fuel, while minimizing emissions and exhaust.

Mahindra tractors have taken fuel efficiency to the next level by creating an engine that exceeds Tier IV emission standards, while providing more power and performance compared to other brands.
